Our History

Africa Queer Network (AQNET) is a feminist, community-based organization founded in 2021 torespond to the systemic exclusion, discrimination, and violence faced by Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LBTQ) persons in Uganda. Established by LBTQ leaders and grassroots organizers, AQNETemerged as a collective response to the urgent need for protection, visibility, and empowerment of gender- diverse individuals—especially those in rural, low-resource, and criminalized settings.
